You will be asked about the number of contacts and activities you've made or attended with your Buddy this month.
Contacts: A contact can be any interaction that happens during the month, such as phone calls, text messages, or e-mails. If you see your Buddy at break or during a passing period - this counts as a contact! Minimum: 4 times a month. However, these numbers can be all over the place! Chapter Co-President, Caitlin, sees her Buddy, Chloe, every day at break so she would list around 20 contacts made for the month!
Activities: An activity can be any event or outing that the buddy pair attended or participated in together. This includes lunches and chapter events. All Troy Best Buddies members should be eating with their Buddies once a week and attending the monthly chapter event with their buddy so the expected number of activities reported should be 5 for all members!
Please remember, telling the truth is the best policy! Friendship Updates are meant to be casual and a way for us to monitor friendships in addition to reporting to Best Buddies International the progress of our chapter. Use slang or throw in a smiley face if you want- your grammar or spelling isn't being judged either! We don't expect you to write a whole essay. A couple of genuine sentences about your experiences during the month is worth more than a page of just listing things. If you were unable to see your Buddy often, please indicate so, but also explain why and what steps you took to make up for it. If you are having problems with your Buddy, contact one of our Co-Presidents for advice. We've seen it all and it is not uncommon if friendships don't work out. Buddy Pairs can be dissolved and you can be rematched. You can't force a friendship and sometimes two people just don't click. On that note, however, some friendships take time to bloom. Showing that you really care through perseverance and continually showing interest in your Buddy may win them over!
