Peer Buddy
A student who is matched in a one-to-one friendship with a buddy for one academic year.
Qualifications and responsibilities:
• Have the desire and ability to form a mutually enriching friendship.
• Complete membership application and matching survey on the chapter portal on BBO and obtain parent
consent.
• Complete a friendship update monthly to report weekly contact and monthly activities on
the chapter portal on BBO.
• Each lunch with buddy once a week.
• Honor the one-to-one commitment for an entire academic year.
• Attend monthly chapter activities.

A student with a mild to moderate intellectual or developmental disability who is matched in a
one-to-one friendship with a peer buddy for one academic year.
Qualifications and responsibilities:
• Have the desire and ability to form a mutually enriching friendship.
• Complete a membership application and a matching survey on the chapter portal on BBO.
• Be able to form a socially appropriate and mutually enriching friendship.
• Contact peer buddy (in person or by phone, note, letter, or e-mail) once a week.
• Honor the one-to-one commitment for an entire academic year.
• Attend chapter activities and events.
Note: Buddy Pairs are expected to meet their one-to-one monthly commitment - eat at
least once per week and attend the monthly chapter events.

Associate Member
A chapter member who is not matched in a one-to-one friendship. In the event there are limited
number of persons to be matched within the chapter to Buddies, all people waiting to be matched will serve
as associate members/associate buddies until additional volunteers are identified. Associate Members are
invited to all events and strongly encouraged to come! In the event that a matched Peer Buddy cannot
attend an event, present Associate Members at the event will be matched with a Buddy for the day.
There will be opportunities for Associate Members to become more involved through club committees that focus
on specific functions. If you are unsure if you will be able to make the commitments of a Peer Buddy, but would like to
show your support for our club and be notified of events - this membership type is for you!
